With appetites for entrepreneurship, Sean Fredricks and Michael Milillo, founders of Code Shred, got the inspiration to start the company after reading articles about small business management and strategies for entrepreneurs. Several of these articles advocated the document destruction business as a viable opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs. So in 2004, Fredricks and Milillo decided to start a document destruction business of their own: Code Shred.

They began their business slowly, only offering off-site and outsourced shredding services. Code Shred then invested in mobile shredding trucks to be able to accommodate the demands of its customers who started to request on-site shredding services.   

As the company grew and the customer requests for on-site shredding increased, Fredricks and Milillo realized they needed more powerful and efficient shredders. They researched several mobile document destruction systems through the National Association of Information Destruction and decided that Shred-Tech offered the best mobile shredding trucks to fit their needs.

Code Shred purchased its first MDS-35GT in October, 2005 and now has six trucks on the road. Fredricks and Milillo appreciate the innovative design elements found in Shred-Tech trucks, including the quick unloading capabilities, easy maintenance and exceptional throughput shredding rates that commence at the push of a button. 

Code Shred has experienced sizable growth and significant success over the last three years.  The company has a wide variety of customers ranging from pizzerias and small businesses to government agencies and financial institutions.  Now a company with 25 employees and more than $2 million in revenue serving customers in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, Code Shred is on the right track to meet its goal of doubling its business in two years.
